The Rent Collector, a novel inspired by River of Victory

In 2009, after watching rough footage of his son’s film, Camron Wright, a novelist, knew it was time to write another book. (His first book novel, Letters for Emily, published by Simon & Schuster, was a Reader’s Choice Award winner, a selection of the Doubleday Book Club and the Literary Guild and was translated and published in several countries around the world.)

Wright notes, “I was immediately taken by the notion of setting a story in the garbage dump, since it’s so rich in irony and metaphor. The dump provides the means for families to stay together, but at the same time, it tears them apart. In Sang Ly’s case it was killing her son.”

Wright took the film’s characters and setting and blended them into a fictional story, a book that’s already garnering tremendous praise. New York Times bestselling author, Sean Covey, calls it, “An amazing piece of literature, a must-read for every book club!”
